If you have applied for the SASSA R350 SRD Grant and awaiting feedback on your application or are unsure about what the status of your application means, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions that can enlighten you.

What must I do if my application is declined?

Your application can be declined for various reasons, maybe you had missing documents or you have an alternative income source. If you disagree with the outcome and believe that you do qualify for the grant then you can submit an appeal through the DSD Independent Tribunal Website https://srd.dsd.gov.za.

How long does the appeal take to be approved?

The appeals tribunal has three months to consider the appeal applications and respond. This means that the Independent Tribunal will review and inform you of the outcome of your appeal electronically, within 60 - 90 days from the lodging of the appeal.

If I don’t have access to the internet, how can I apply for the COVID-19 SRD grant?

All applications are online via the SRD website (https://srd.sassa.gov.za and the WhatsApp channel (082 046 8553).

What does it mean if I was approved with a payment date and then the payment status changed to decline?

The change in your application status is due to further verification made on your bank account(s). SASSA would have found out that you had an income of more than the required qualifying amount.  This unfortunately resulted in your application being declined.

I can’t get through the toll-free number, does SASSA have an alternative number for enquires?

Unfortunately, no, SASSA does not have an alternative toll-free number. Clients are advised to keep on trying till they get through the toll-free number. Alternatively, you can send an email to [email protected]
