Shoprite Group has officially launched a bank account with the lowest fees, allowing customers to have full control of their money.

    The Money Market Account is now a full-fledged transactional bank account, one of the very first to be offered by South African retailers.

    Shoprite already provides almost two million banked and unbanked customers with the best deal on the market.

    No monthly fees will be charged, clients will only be charged an R5 fee for cash withdrawals and every other transaction will be free.

    The Shoprite Money Market Bank Account is efficient and ideal as customers can skip the long queues and high withdrawal fees at the ATMs by depositing and withdrawing money at any till point at Shoprite, Usave, and Checkers retailers nationwide.

    The account also allows customers to send money, buy airtime, data, and electricity, pay bills, send grocery vouchers, and pay for groceries from the comfort of their homes using their cell phones.

    Customers will be in full control of their money as there are no debit orders or deductions attached to the bank account.

    Besides the low-cost banking benefit, the money market also offers simplicity as everything is digital, retail hours will be applied (not banking hours), seven days a week.

    Customers who wish to transact through the money market bank account can open the account in various ways:

    • Shoprite App – You can download the Shoprite App and go through the 2 minutes application process.
    • USSD – Dial *120*3534# on your cell phone and provide all required information to complete your application.
    • WhatsApp – Add 087 240 5709 as a contact and send a message via WhatsApp, select the money market account option.
    • In-store – You can visit any Shoprite store nationwide to open a money market bank account.
